Karachi youth diagnosed with congo virus

A 22-year-old youth has been diagnosed with Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF), commonly known as the Congo virus, and is currently receiving medical treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) in Karachi, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.
According to hospital sources, the patient is a resident of Quetta and was brought to Jinnah Hospital after developing a high fever and experiencing nosebleeds. Following medical examination and laboratory testing, his PCR test confirmed the presence of the Congo virus.
Hospital officials said that the patient will be shifted to the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital (NIPA) for specialised treatment after the positive PCR report. Doctors are closely monitoring his condition and providing the necessary medical care.
Health authorities have urged the public to follow precautionary measures to reduce the risk of Congo virus infection. They emphasised that early diagnosis and immediate medical treatment are essential to improve patient outcomes and prevent the spread of the disease.
