The Supreme Court has yet to fix the case regarding the dismissal of former IHC judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui but it seems that the sacked judge might reach his retirement age before his case could be heard, reported by News24HD TV channel on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the case of dismissed judge Siddiqui could not be fixed for hearing by the apex court while there are only nine days left in his retirement.
Mr Siddiqui is retiring on June 30. The first hearing of Mr Siddiqui’s review plea was held on 13 Feb, 2020. The Supreme Court fixed his review plea for hearing for 9 times, but for 4 times the case was adjourned without hearing.
Mr Siddiqui was supposed to become the chief justice of Islamabad High Court on 28 Nov, 2018 but the dismissed judge delivered a speech in District Bar Association, Rawalpindi on July 21, 2018 in which he accused the sensitive agencies of interfering in the judicial affairs.
Mr Siddiqui was removed from his office on Oct 11, 2018 on the order of Supreme Judicial Council.
The sacked judge entered the review petition in the apex court against the SJC’s decision of his dismissal.
