A joint venture working on the Guddu block has discovered gas in an exploratory well named Guddu Block and located in the Ghotki district of Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to a statement issued by Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC), which leads the joint venture of three companies, the venture found 10 lac cubic meters of gas.

Earlier on June 15, a joint venture working on the Guddu block has discovered gas in an exploratory well named Umair South East 1 and located in the Ghotki district of Sindh.

The Umair South East well was drilled to the planned depth of 785 metres to test the hydrocarbon potential of Pirkoh Formation and Habib Rahi Limestone.

The Drill Stem Test-1 showed a flow of 1.063 million standard cubic feet per day of gas at the wellhead flow pressure of 210 pounds per square inch.

“The discovery of Umair South East 1 is the result of an aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the Guddu joint venture partners,” OGDC said.

“It has opened a new avenue and will contribute to mitigating the energy demand and supply gap from indigenous resources and will add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of OGDC and the country.”
