Murree Mall Road operation continues as shops, hotels Vacated Under Development Plan
The district administration has intensified its operation on Murree’s Mall Road under the Murree Development Plan, with shops and hotels located along the hillside being vacated as part of the ongoing redevelopment project, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Murree, affected traders have been directed to remove their belongings and hand over possession of the premises by tomorrow.
He said the operation on Mall Road is expected to be completed within the next 15 days.
Officials stated that 20 kanals of land have been acquired on the instructions of the Punjab government to facilitate the implementation of the Murree Development Plan and ensure the successful execution of infrastructure and development initiatives in the hill station.
Meanwhile, affected traders have expressed serious concerns over the operation, claiming that no compensation has been paid to them so far despite being asked to vacate their businesses.
Several shopkeepers were seen in tears while clearing out their premises.
The traders argued that the government’s action had directly impacted their livelihoods and urged authorities to provide fair compensation so they could relocate their businesses and continue earning a living.
The administration, however, maintains that the operation is necessary for the broader development and improvement of Murree’s infrastructure, while affected business owners continue to seek financial relief and support from the government.
