How Iran tracked F-35 fighter jets without radar technology

Iran has reportedly targeted advanced US F-35 fighter jets using a sophisticated passive detection system instead of conventional radar, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to military sources, unlike traditional systems that rely on radar waves, the passive system tracks aircraft by sensing the heat generated from fuel and the movement of smoke plumes.

The system employs advanced infrared technology, enabling it to detect and monitor jet activity while remaining virtually invisible to enemy radar. 

This capability allows Iranian forces to target aircraft like the F-35 without triggering alerts, a vulnerability typically associated with radar-detected planes.

Experts note that conventional radar systems often alert pilots when a defensive network is active, but the passive detection system can effectively bypass such safeguards.

This technological approach demonstrates Iran’s growing capacity to counter stealth fighter jets while minimizing exposure to detection.
