PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday said how it could be possible that the decisions regarding the sugar scandal were taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, but the corruption was committed by the mills owned by the Sharif family.

Describing the formation of inquiry commission and publishing its report as circus and drama to save Imran Khan, Marriyum raised some questions in a series of tweets. How it was possible that both Imran and Buzdar had no memory of the meeting where the decisions were taken, she asked.

It was Imran as the prime minister who approved sugar subsidy, export and price increase in the local market, but why he had not been summoned by the commission, said the PML-N spokesperson.

By removing the name of Imran from the report, the crime has been proven, she remarked.

Marriyum raised another question by saying that Khusro Bakhtiar’s brother wasn’t interrogated because he did not have any political office then what offices Maryam Nawaz, Suleman Shehbaz and other Sharif family members had. Why they had to face bogus cases and media trial, she added.

What office Maryam had so she was kept in a death cell and NAB torture cells twice, she said, adding that if Khusro Bakhtiar had nothing to do with the business of his brother then what link Shehbaz could have with the affairs of his sons.

The spokesperson also expressed reservations that Imran’s name wasn’t included in the report despite the fact that it was he who had approved the decisions.

The Sharif family’s sugar mills work under law and are certified by the FBR every year, so how there was corruption in their affairs, she added.

Give the evidence that any of the mills owned by the Sharif family exported sugar, Marriyum challenged and added how there could be any corruption when the Ramzan Sugar Mills is closed.

She said there was no mention of any of the Sharif family’s mills in the initial report and Shehbaz’s name had been added later to protect Imran.
