Two years have passed since the Pakistan International Ariplane crashed on May 22, 2020 in Karachi in which 97 people including senior journalist and former director programming 24NewsHD TV channel Syed Ansar Naqvi had also died.

The final report of the PIA crash has yet to be released and victims’ families are waiting for it for over one and half years.

A PIA Spokesperson said that the national carrier has distributed Rs10.11 million among the families of all the victims as compensation.

The plane had crashed into a residential neighbourhood of Karachi just 22 seconds before landing at the airport.

The plane had made multiple approaches to land at Karachi Airport before it came down among houses, sparking a rescue operation that lasted into the night.

Flames and plumes of smoke were sent into the air as the plane came down, its wings slicing through rooftops before crashing onto a street.
