President, Prime Minister confer Baton of Field Marshal on General Asim Munir

President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif conferred the Baton of Field Marshal on General Syed Asim Munir during a ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel. 

The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Federal Cabinet members, Service Chiefs, Chief Ministers and Governors of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan were present during the ceremony. 

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said it was day of honor for the entire nation. 

The PM said today entire nation paid salute to the national heroes. He said armed forces achieved historic victory against arrogant enemy. 

The PM said Pakistan's befitting reply brought India to its knees as Armed forces fought bravely under the fearless leadership of Syed Asim Munir. 

Addressing the ceremony President Zardari also lauded security forces for giving befitting reply to India on aggression. 

He said the entire nation was proud of the bravery and success of the armed forces. Syed Asim Munir confidently led the forces in difficult circumstances, the President said. 

Zardari said Syed Asim Munir adopted the best war strategy in the fight for justice. President expresses gratitude to the nation for remaining united in the hour of trial. 

President said Pakistan was a peace-loving country but Pakistan's desire for peace should not be considered weakness, adding that “if there is external aggression, we will fight on the plains, forests and mountains”.
