Fire erupts in Rawalpindi’s veggie market

A massive fire which broke out in Rawalpindi’s vegetable market was brought under control after hectic efforts on Friday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Emergency teams reached the scene but faced significant difficulties as strong winds caused the blaze to spread rapidly to many shops across a large area.

Capital Emergency Director-General Dr Abdul Rehman supervised the whole operation by himself.

No loss of life and property was reported from the site of the incident so far.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

In February 2026, a major fire that broke out at a textile factory in the Rawat Industrial Estate was brought under control after a 16-hour firefighting operation, while cooling operations were underway, a Rescue 1122 spokesman said.

Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the blaze and launched firefighting efforts. Initially, 10 emergency vehicles and more than 30 rescuers took part in the operation.
