5-year plan ready for improvement of govt universities in Punjab

A new 5-year plan has been prepared for the improvement of government universities in Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Under the new plan, major reform measures will be taken in higher education institutions by 2030.

According to plan, accountability and monitoring system will be established in all universities.

A new model of funding for universities based on performance will be implemented.

More than 100 research projects will be funded in 2026.

Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and Offices of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) budget will be allocated in 30 percent of institutions in government universities.

About 25 percent increase in funding for backward areas has been announced.

Target has been set to increase quality systems in all universities to 100 percent by 2027.

It has also been decided to increase research funding to 150 projects.

Special training will be given to 5,000 teachers in 2027.

More than 100,000 students will be involved in social and civic activities and 70 percent of universities will be converted into smart campuses by 2028.

The number of digital users of universities will reach one million.

All higher education frameworks will be given a permanent shape in 2029.

There will also be a goal of bringing Punjab's universities into the top 500 rankings of the world.

The use of AI analytics will be implemented in universities.
