Justice Qazi Faez Isa suo moto notice held in abeyance: SC larger bench

The Supreme Court larger bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial has held in abeyance the suo motu notice taken by Justice Qazi Faez Isa on journalist harassment application, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The five-member larger bench Monday gave its verdict on the constitutional right to take suo moto notice by other judges of the SC other than CJP of Supreme Court.
The apex court adjourned the hearing till August 25 and issued notices to the Attorney General of Pakistan, President of Supreme Court Bar, and Vice-Chairman of Pakistan Bar Council to facilitate the court.
The court issue verdict that case of harassment of journalists will remain ineffective till the formation of a new bench as Justice Qazi Faez and Justice Jamal Mandokhel are not available on August 26.
The SC bench said at the moment, the court will not look at the important questions raised by the journalists.
The court said whether a judger other than SJP could take suo moto notice or not. “A verdict was issued on August 20 on the petition that was not under hearing. The verdict issued notices to government institutions, federal and provincial advocate generals on August 26 before the divisional bench.”
