Cybercrime agency summons Maria B over transgender party controversy
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has summoned dress designer Maria Butt after a complaint was filed against her regarding videos of an alleged immoral party involving members of the transgender community, 24News HD TV channel reported on Saturday.
According to official sources, the agency issued a summons notice to Maria Butt, directing her to appear on August 26.
The inquiry was initiated following a complaint lodged by transgender individual Naeem Butt, also known as Seema Butt.
In the complaint, Seema Butt alleged that Maria B deliberately highlighted and circulated videos of the party, which, according to the petitioner, not only targeted the transgender community but also amounted to harassment and defamation.
Acting upon the request, the agency began formal proceedings into the matter.
The case has drawn significant attention on social media, with divided opinions emerging.
Supporters of Maria B argue that she was merely raising concerns over inappropriate activities, while others believe her actions unfairly singled out the transgender community.
Last week, the designer claimed to have exposed immoral activities in the Punjab capital, Lahore.

Taking to her Instagram handle, Maira B shared a story, showing Satanic activities and questioned the intentions behind such events.
According to her, the purpose of these activities was ‘to destroy the youth, the morality, the family structures, and sacred relationships’.
Maria B claimed that such events were being organised under the nose of the authorities.
She connected the alleged incident with broader cultural and political concerns.
She drew comparisons to the controversy surrounding the internationally acclaimed but locally debated film Joyland, which faced backlash in Pakistan for its portrayal of LGBTQ themes.
The designer questioned whether directives from Israel at the United Nations, calling on Pakistan to decriminalise same-sex activities, were being implemented discreetly.
She asked parents to reflect on whether they were aware of their children’s whereabouts and the causes they might be supporting by attending such events.
Maria B’s comments sparked a wave of online discussion, with some praising her for defending cultural and religious values, while others accused her of fearmongering.
