5 medical colleges closed amid ‘Omicron’

Five medical colleges in Sukkur and Larkana divisions were closed for ten days due to the threat of the spread of the ‘Omicron’ variant of the coronavirus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Colleges to be closed include GMC College, Bibi Aseefa Dental College (BADC), Chandka Medical College and other colleges.  After the closure of colleges, students left for home.

On the other hand, according to a press release issued by the office of Dr Saghir Ul Maani, Department of Health, cases of the ‘Omicron’ variant are increasing in Malakand District. 

While the health department with the help of district administration has imposed a micro smart lockdown in Totakan and Jalala police station, where patients in two houses have been quarantined.

A spokesman for the health department has appealed to the people of the area to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the Covid-19 pandemic, to use masks, and to avoid going to public places.
