Despite tall claims made by the authorities that they are taking steps to purge Karachi of lawless elements, there seems to be no respite for the people of the port city from street crimes as in one of the biggest hits, over 30 people sitting at Makkah Hotel in Karimabad area of district Central were robbed of their cellphones, cash as well as other valuables on Saturday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday. 

According to reports, four to five men, with their faces covered, held the men sitting at a restaurant, located in the limits of Azizabad police station, hostage at gunpoint, and snatched cellphones from eight of them besides other valuables from them and others. 

Police action at Super Highway

Karachi police have arrested six accused during operations at SITE Super Highway and recovered arms and drugs from them.

SSP East Qamar Raza Jaskani said all the accused were involved in street crime and drugs trafficking.
