Five killed in suicide bombing at Peace Committee head's house in DI Khan

At least five people were killed and several others injured in a suicide bombing at a wedding ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday, police said.

According to initial reports, the blast occurred near Qureshi Mor during a wedding event at the residence of Noor Alam Mehsud, head of the local Peace Committee. Police said the explosion took place while a music programme was under way.

The blast occurred inside a room, causing it to collapse completely. As a result, five people lost their lives on the spot, while several others sustained injuries.

Police, rescue teams and the bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene soon after the incident. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where some were reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities said the nature of the explosion was being investigated, though preliminary information suggests it was a suicide attack.
