Negligent Jhelum doctor operates on patient’s throat instead of nose
A surgeon in a private hospital in Jhelum operated on a patient’s throat instead of his nose out of sheer negligence, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the hospital sources, a man named Kashif was to undergo nose surgery, but the surgeon mistakenly operated on his throat.
“It was my mistake. The patient also had tonsillitis which I failed to tell earlier. I will operate on his nose as soon as he gets better,” Dr Ahmad Nawaz Kayani said.
The patient, on the other hand, claimed that he did not have any problem with his tonsils, adding that the doctor was supposed to operate on someone else’s throat in his stead.
“A patient was scheduled to undergo throat surgery right after me, but the doctor operated on my throat without checking my file,” he alleged.
He also wrote an application to the Jhelum deputy commissioner for action against the surgeon.
“My condition is bad. I will now go to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for nose surgery,” he stated.
