No clue was found on Wednesday about the father and his daughter, whose vehicle was swept away due to heavy monsoon rains in Islamabad’s DHA Phase 5 yesterday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The digging procedure at the site of the nullah in River Swan was continued, but later it was stopped at 3 am due to heavy flow of rainwater in the area.

Rescue personnel and vehicles were present at the site in River Swan and expanded the scope of their rescue operation on Wednesday morning.

Earlier, the vehicle was caught in a sudden surge of water, leaving father and daughter unable to escape from their car.

Rescue teams were actively searching for the vehicle and its passengers, but no further details on their condition have been confirmed at this time.

Rescue 1122 issued a high alert for more rainfall in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Preparations have been made to tackle any contingency, and special 1122 teams have been deployed in cities and adjoining areas.

District emergency officer Sibghatullah has said that water boats and other necessary equipment have been provided at Soan river and other points to tackle any rain emergency. “Special teams have also been deployed to tackle flash flood emergency”.

He said a rain emergency declared and section 144 was imposed in Rawalpindi. “Citizens must avoid disposing off garbage and construction debris into rain drains”, DEO said.
