Iranian supreme leader to be laid to rest in Mashhad: Reports

Unverified reports circulating on social and digital platforms on Monday created confusion about the funeral prayers and burial of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to the claims, Khamenei's funeral prayers were planned in Tehran on July 4–6. Additional ceremonies will be held in Qom on July 7. Reports suggest that Khamenei's body would be transported to Iraq for gatherings in Najaf and Karbala on July 8 before returning to Iran for final rites in Mashhad on July 9.

The same unverified accounts claim that the final funeral prayers would be held at the Imam Ali Reza (AS) shrine in Mashhad, where burial would take place, and that senior clerics and delegations from multiple countries were expected to attend.

However, no Iranian statement or credible international information supported these claims. Authorities and recognized news sources have not issued any confirmation regarding the death of the Iranian Supreme Leader or any related funeral arrangements.

Observers caution that such reports appear to be misinformation and urge reliance on verified sources for accurate updates regarding Iran’s leadership.
