One environmental sample tests positive for Poliovirus in Sindh

The Sindh Health Department has reported that one out of 29 environmental samples collected across the province this month has tested positive for poliovirus, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

According to the Sindh Emergency Operations Center (EOC), only one positive environmental sample was reported from Karachi's East district, while the report of 7 samples is yet pending.

No other environmental samples were reported positive from any district of Sindh during the current surveillance round, it claimed.

The EOC announced that a polio campaign will be conducted from 6 to 12 July across all the districts of Sindh.

Parents have been requested to welcome the polio workers and lend a hand of cooperation to them.

It urged that the public should only rely on authentic and verified sources for seeking information related to polio, and added that the stoppage of misinformation is essential for protecting children.

EOC emphasized that Sindh has made significant progress in reducing virus spreading.

In 2026, two nationwide vaccination campaigns were conducted, while one booster-dose campaign had already been carried out, and high coverage was achieved in all three campaigns.
