COAS announces relief package for Balochistan

In the wake of COVID-19, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has announced a ration assistance package for affected areas of Balochistan.
According to an ISPR statement issued on Saturday, over 11,000 packages were distributed in Gwadar and Lasbela. Gwadar being a remote district remained the main focus, the statement added.
Locals from these areas suffered from indirect effects of the pandemic especially at socio-economic level.
In order to facilitate the civil population during this challenging environment all stakeholders including government, politicians, district administration, Armed Forces and NGOs contributed optimally to help the locals.
The ration distribution programme spanned over 10 days from May 06 – 15 May 2020, through well-articulated mechanism.
Tehsil Gwadar received 4,550 rations, Tehsil Pasni 1,650, Tehsil Ormara 1,850, Tehsil Jiwani 2,550, District Lasbela 1,000 rations. Moreover 200 units were also distributed among minorities.
In addition, patients were also treated through concurrent establishment of 924 free medical camps.
Pakistan Army soldiers have been donating rations out of their share of ration for their destitute countrymen which has been hailed by the locals.
