At least 12 policepersons embraced martyrdom in a bomb blast at a CTD police station in Swat, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
According to a police spokesperson 40 persons sustained injuries in the bombing at the Kabal CTD police station in Swat.
The death toll may rise as the explosion flattened the police station building and inflicted huge damage upon nearby structures, according to DSP Attaullah.
Rescuers and security officials rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and the injured to hospitals. An emergency has been declared in the local hospitals of Swat.
Prime Minister expressed sympathy for the victims and prayed to the Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah strongly condemned the blast and expressed grief over the loss of precious human lives.
He expressed sympathy for the victims and prayed for the early recovery of the injured. The interior minister vowed to eliminate terrorism from the country.
Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan also condemned the bombing and directed the authorities to speed up the rescue and relief operation and provide the injured with the best medical facilities.
Muhammad Azam Khan said the government will never let alone the families of martyred police. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah showed solidarity with his Sindh counterpart and expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives.
