The Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capt (r) Usman Younis has approved the 4-member joint investigating team (JIT) that has been constituted to investigate the Islamabad suicide blast, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The notification issued on Saturday mentioned that the team was formed on the recommendation of the Islamabad Inspector-General's Office.

The team comprises four officers — Senior Superintendent of Police (CTD) Islamabad, one representative each from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB), and any member that the inspector-general nominates.

CTD Police Station's SHO and the investigating officers in the case will assist the team in the probe, the notification mentioned. The JIT was constituted under Section 19A of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) 1997.

The blast occurred in the capital city a day earlier, in which two people including a police official were martyred and eight others sustained injuries. The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The notification added the JIT will complete its investigation within the stipulated time period. Police officers can be members of JIT on the nomination of IG Islamabad, the notification adds.
