Man booked under PECA for ‘anti-state propaganda'

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Rawalpindi has arrested a suspect allegedly involved in running a social media campaign aimed at defaming state institutions, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.

According to officials, the arrested accused was identified as Munzam Qudoos, son of Abdul Qudoos.

A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for spreading harmful and misleading content against government and state institutions through social media platforms.

The First Information Report (FIR) states that the suspect was actively using digital platforms to damage the credibility and reputation of state and government bodies by sharing defamatory material.

During the operation, law enforcement officials seized the suspect’s mobile phone and took relevant digital evidence into custody for further investigation.

The officials said further legal action will be taken based on the forensic analysis of the seized data.
