Pak-Afghan Torkham border has partially been reopened for pedestrians after remaining closed for five days, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

Commercial activities through the Torkham border are still closed.

The Torkham border is a key trade route for both Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Torkham was closed by the Taliban on Monday after Islamabad rejected their demand for allowing all Afghan citizens gathered at the border to enter the Pakistani side.

The Kabul Taliban government alleged Islamabad denying Afghan migrants entry into Pakistan for medical care.

The closure of the border saw thousands of trucks carrying food and other items stranded at the frontier.

The decision to reopen the border crossing came after a high-level Pakistani delegation met Taliban officials in Kabul.

The Taliban government reopened the crossing briefly on Thursday but soon it was closed.

Pakistan and Afghanistan share a 2,600 km-long border.

Pakistan accused the Afghan government of sheltering armed attackers belonging to the TTP.

The suspension of commercial activities has caused heavy losses to the national exchequer.
