Crackdown on dacoits in Ghotki a major success, says Sindh home minister

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has termed the recent crackdown against dangerous and notorious dacoits in Ghotki a major success for the police.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Sindh home minister said that eight dacoits surrendered to law enforcement agencies the previous day, while six more — including Rahab Shar, who was considered a symbol of terror in Ghotki and surrounding areas — laid down their arms today.

According to him, those who surrendered include Rahab Nadir Moli, Zahoor Moreo, Sindhu Sheikh, Bakhsh son of Sawan Shar, Zahoor son of Zoro Shar, Rahab son of Qaim Shar and Moreo son of Minthar Shar.

Lanjar stated that Operation Nijat Mehran will continue until the last dacoit is brought to justice. He urged other outlaws to surrender, assuring that those who do so will be treated in accordance with the law. He warned that any dacoit who refuses to lay down arms will face strict action and could be killed in the operation.

The minister congratulated the DIG, SSPs of Sukkur and Ghotki, and their teams for their successful action against the dangerous criminals. He appreciated the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh), Intelligence Bureau and other law enforcement agencies for assisting the police in the joint operation.
