Fog fell in Lahore making air and road traffic managers close major roads and the provincial capital airport to avert disaster, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Sunday.

Motorways authorities announced affected sections have been closed for vehicular traffic because of poor visibility. The official also issued advice to adopt precautionary measures like using fog lights and avoiding unnecessary travel.

According to the Motorways official, the sections M3 from Lahore to Nankana and M2 from Lahore to Sheikhupura have been closed in wake of fog-related safety steps. These sections will reopen as soon as the visibility gets back to normalcy.

The airport authorities also closed down the airport because the fog reduced the visibility. Six flights have been canceled while nine flight operations were behind the schedule.

The flights 620 and 621 from Doha to Lahore, as well flights ER 522, 523, 524, 525 from Karachi to Lahore, were canceled. Turkish Air flight TK714 from Istanbul was delayed for six and a half hours and it left for Istanbul 6 hours behind schedule while PIA flight PK203 to Dubai was delayed for five and a half hours.
