Rain, snowfall spell enters fourth day in AJK

The spell of intermittent rain and snowfall in the upper areas of Jhelum valley, Hattian Bala, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has entered the fourth day.

Rain and snow continue intermittently in Leepa valley, Pandu, Khalana, Reshian, Sina Daman, Bani Hafiz, and Sudhan Gali.

The weather is cloudy in the low-lying areas of Jhelum valley.

Due to the rain and snowfall, the temperature has increased to 4 degrees centigrade.

The main highway from Srinagar Kohala to Chakothi is open for all types of traffic.

The link roads of Pandu, Nalai Gondi Garan, Khalana valley, Sina Daman, and Bani Hafiz are closed due to snowfall.

Leepa Valley is disconnected from other areas for four days after heavy snowfall.

Over four feet of snow has fallen on the mountains of Leepa valley.

Due to the snowfall in Leepa valley, the problems of the locals have increased.

The temperature also fell below the freezing point, which increased the severity of the cold.

According to the Highways Department spokesperson, 14 kilometers of Lamnian-Reshian Road has been cleared.

Maintenance operation could not be started yet on Moji Sher Gali Road in Leepa valley due to bad weather.

The road maintenance operation will be started as soon as the weather clears.

The weather experts say that the current spell of snowfall may continue for another 12 hours.

In Dir Upper, snowfall continues in Kumrat, Lowari, Shahi areas, blocking all the link roads of Kumrat-Lamuti.

Citizens are faced with severe problems. Apart from this, there is also a shortage of food items. People have been confined to their houses.

Weather Situation

Islamabad is expected to remain partly cloudy. Rain is likely in the federal capital.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain cold and dry in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Areas including Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Saidu Sharif, Malakand, Charsadda and Peshawar are likely to experience rain and snowfall on the mountains.

In Punjab, cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, and Sahiwal are likely to experience partly cloudy weather.

Other cities of Punjab including Okara, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Joharabad and Potohar region are likely to remain partly cloudy. Rain is also likely in these areas.

Rain and snowfall are expected in Murree, Galyat and surrounding areas.

In Balochistan, weather will remain very cold and dry in most districts.

In Sindh, weather is likely to be cold and dry in most districts.

Rain and snowfall are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
