Jahangir Taren group defers Nathiagali trip
A get-together of members of ‘estranged’ Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) group which was planned at Nathiagali in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on August 2nd and August 3rd has been postponed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Talking to the media, Jahangir Tareen said it was a trip and not a visit to the hill station as was being commonly understood, and that there was no political agenda that was to be discussed there. “And since media started projecting it as a meeting convened to thrash out JKT group’s future course of action, we decided to postpone it,” the ‘estranged’ PTI leader explained.
“We are not going to Nathiagali now,” Tareen added.
It is worth noting that it is for the fourth time that Tareen Group announced an event and later either postponed it or canceled it. Initially, a leader of the Group Raja Riaz announced that they would not support the PTI government in the passage of the Federal Budget 2021-22. However, it changed its mind and the entire Group voted in favor of the government.
The Group later planned a protest demonstration against the handing over of the sugar and flour scandal to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Later, as the assurances were given by the concerned authorities that no action would be taken against Jehangir Tareen, the demonstration planned was canceled.
The same has happened to its plan to meet in Nathiagali which was earlier given hype as if some important decisions would be taken to formulate actions in the future. This time, it was Jehangir Tareen himself who came out saying: "We are not going to Nathiagali".
Political observers are of the view that if the Group's leadership kept on coming forward and going back habit, it would lose credibility in the public.
