Pakistan takes measures to monitor Monkeypox after WHO’s alert

Pakistan has taken important measures to ensure monitoring of the Monkeypox virus in the context of declaring a global emergency from the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel has given direction to National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) and the Central Health Establishment (Border Health Services) to monitor Monkeypox along with coronavirus closely.
No case of Monkeypox has been reported in Pakistan so far but Health Minister Patel directed the federal government and the provinces to take effective measures to prevent this epidemic.
The health minister said a screening system especially for travellers from Africa has been strengthened while Pakistan's entry routes are being closely monitored on a scientific basis following guidelines of the WHO.
Patel has ensured that all necessary steps are being taken regarding public awareness and concrete measures are being taken to increase the capacity of health workers.
