Fear of arrest: Drug smuggler jumps into Mangla Dam, body recovered

A suspected drug dealer lost his life after jumping into Mangla Dam during a police raid in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, in a desperate attempt to evade arrest, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

According to police officials, the incident occurred when the local police arrived to apprehend the suspect, identified as Imtiaz, who panicked and fled the scene. In a dramatic escape attempt, he leapt into the nearby dam.

Emergency rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the location and launched a search operation. After several hours of relentless effort, Imtiaz’s lifeless body was recovered from the waters.

Authorities confirmed that Imtiaz, a resident of Bangreela in Islamgarh, was wanted in multiple drug trafficking cases. The local administration has since called for a full investigation report into the incident.
