Israel to start massive arrests in Gaza in next 48hrs, warns Palestinian activist Maryam Afeefi

Though a ceasefire brokered by Egypt between Palestinian group Hamas and Israel came into force in the early hours of Friday morning, but the reign of terror unleashed by the Zionist regime still persists, reported 24NewsHD Tv channel on Monday.

In the wake of the announcement of the ceasefire, thousands of people in Gaza and the Palestinian territories poured onto the streets to celebrate the ceasefire, waving flags and flashing ‘V’ signs for victory. But they did not know what was to unfold in the coming day.

A very sinister development is taking place in Gaza as the Israeli forces will start rounding up people including small children in an attempt to intimidate and discipline those who participated in the unity uprising for justice and liberation. It amounts to a declaration of war.

In her tweet on Monday, the Palestinian activist Maryam Afifi drew people’s attention to the atrocities of Israel government which she says is going to start a mass wave of arrests in next 48 hours.

She said Israel has declared a war against Palestinians who dare to resist its colonial project and demand freedom.

Today, the Israeli police announced their intent to arrest over 500 Palestinian citizens of Israel over the next 48 hours. This wave of mass arrests will take place as part of what Israel calls a "law and order" campaign. Thousands of police officers will carry out violent arrests, kicking into doors, brutalizing families and kidnapping our brothers and sisters.

This is not just an attempt to intimidate and discipline those who participated in the Unity Uprising for justice and liberation. This is a declaration of war. It is the settler colonial project's way of attempting to crush our people's spirit, resistance and resilience.

Over 1400 have already been arrested since May 9th. At least 200 people will be charged. Israel's arrest campaigns have primarily targeted minors and working-class kids from impoverished communities.

She said do not remain silent. Speak about this and make it a priority for your solidarity campaign. Write to your representatives and force them to condemn this. Tweet about it. Whatever you can come up with, this can't just pass quietly, she added.

During the 11 days of Israel-Gaza conflict, at least 232 Palestinians, including 65 children, have been killed in the Israeli bombardment.

Maryam Afeefi was widely applauded around the world for her courageous show against Israeli barbarism when a video of her went viral as Israeli forces arrested her and she passed on a smile.

The reaction of the smiling Palestinians smiling while being arrested by Israeli forces to the world by storm and it remained a top trend on social media throughout the days of Israeli oppression and aggression against the innocent Palestinians.
