Govt to cancel passports, lodge FIRs against deported citizens: Naqvi

The Government has decided to take stringent action against Pakistani citizens, deported from foreign countries, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

The decision was taken during a meeting in Islamabad on Saturday under the chair of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Speaking during the meeting, the Interior Minister said the passports of the Pakistanis, who were returning to the country after being deported, would be cancelled and FIR would be lodged against them. He said deportees were causing embarrassment for Pakistan at international level, thus no leniency would be shown to them. It was further decided in the meeting that deportees would be placed on the Passport Control List for five years.

On the instructions of Interior Minister, a committee led by interior secretary has been formed to further improve passport rules and regulations.  Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi said that those who had been deported caused embarrassment to Pakistan and no leniency would be shown to them in future.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, the secretary interior, DG FIA and DG Passport attended the meeting.
