Lahore police arrest maid, mother over Rs12m theft in Nawab Town

Lahore police on Sunday said they had solved a major house theft case in the city’s Nawab Town area, arresting a housemaid and her mother for allegedly stealing cash, gold jewellery, and other valuables worth millions of rupees from a resident’s home, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

According to a spokesperson for the DIG (Operations), the suspect, working as a maid at the residence of Ghulam Murtaza, allegedly committed theft with the help of her mother.

Police said the accused stole 25 tolas of gold jewellery, foreign currency, and other valuable items from the house.

Following the incident, the suspect’s mother allegedly fled to Renala Khurd with the stolen goods in an attempt to avoid arrest, officials said.

According to the spokesperson, the suspects were arrested through what police described as a modern investigative strategy and timely action.

During the operation, police recovered the entire stolen property, valued at approximately Rs12.5 million.

Further legal proceedings against the two suspects are underway, police added.
