Like other parts of the globe, the 77th anniversary of the United Nations was observed across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

In this regard, Population Welfare Department Punjab Monday held a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate the birthday of the UN. 

The department organized a special ceremony in which Population Welfare Department Punjab DG Saman Rai and dozens of other employees participated.

On the occasion, the participants paid glowing tribute to the services provided by the United Nations in the field of health, education, population welfare, social security, and sexual violence. 

Saman Rai was of the view that the department is taking effective measures for family planning with the support of the United Nations.

It is pertinent that in 1945, 50 governments of almost all the countries gathered to draft the UN Charter. October 24 commemorates the United Nations Day. It is a reflection on the impact the United Nations has had around the globe in the past decades. They have struggled and accomplished great feats to uphold peace, protect human rights, and play a key role in bringing international justice.
