Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid on Saturday said that PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari Zardari is a prudent politician, and therefore has gone to slumber for a few months as he realises it is not the best time for politics.
While talking to the media at Railway Headquarters in Lahore, the railway minister did not nurture identical feelings for the other political rival, Shehbaz Sharif, for which he said, “Perhaps, Shehbaz Sharif had returned to Pakistan with some unjustified optimism but his political coffin is lying before you.”
Further taking a jibe at the PML-N President, the minister said, “Even his (Shehbaz’s) own niece (Maryam Nawaz) is at loggerheads with him, and wants to make Shahid Khaqan Abbasi the president of the party instead.”
He said that “We respect doctors, and therefore, we have decided to postpone our evening press conference.”
About the recent corruption cases, the minister said, “Wheat, sugar, and IPPs will prolong now,” and added that “all the ministers, advisors, or peers, whoever found involved in any scam will be apprehended.”
He said it is Rs6,000 billion corruption matter, and whoever found involved would be eliminated indiscriminately.
Praising the PM’s impartiality in the crusade against corruption, Sheikh Rashid said “These reports would have never seen the light of the day had Imran Khan not been at the helm of affairs.”
“The three inquiries including IPPs, sugar and wheat are only made public because of Prime Minister Imran Khan and he would do justice in these matters,” he said.
Sheikh Rashid said that “the government is in contact with the opposition over NAB Ordinance,” which he said would be promulgated by April 27.
He said that the trains would be operationalized within 24 hours after the government lifted the lockdown. He said that if the lockdown lifted on May 9 the decision on resumption of railway operations would be made on May 10 and Pakistan Railways would resume the operations within 24 hours.
He said he has ordered the inquiries in Railways operations while the audit report would be available till 30 June.
