The heads of the lawyers’ bodies have expressed concerns at a social media campaign against the state organs, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Hafeezur Rehman Chaudhry, Supreme Court Bar President Ahsan Bhoon, and High Court Bar President Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar held a joint press conference at Lahore High Court Bar.

Ahsan Bhoon said that though the Supreme Court has done its best to restore the constitution and the law, a group is campaigning against the judiciary on social media. He said such an act is condemnable.

Ahsan Bhoon said that Imran Khan reposed distrust in Election Commission though he posted the commission himself.

If democracy is derailed, everyone will be at receiving end, he added.

Hafeezur Rehman condemned the campaign against the state organs saying that the losers got involved in the blame game.

They raised the demand for stern action to protect the judges and their families from such a smear campaign.

A few days ago, the legal community welcomed the court proceedings at night for the supremacy of the constitution

In a joint declaration, the lawyers stressed any campaign against the judges is aimed at pressuring the judiciary to pursue an undemocratic and unconstitutional agenda.

The legal community hailed the decision of the Supreme Court to open the court late at night.
