Customs set new import value for 187 Apple iPhone models, including iPhone 16 series

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Karachi has issued new customs values for the import of 187 different Apple iPhone models, including the recently launched iPhone 16 series.

A new Valuation Ruling (No. 1909 of 2025) was released on Friday, setting revised customs values for a wide range of iPhones. This update includes the iPhone 16 (all 16 variants), as well as older models such as the iPhone 15, 14, 13, 12, and 11, among others.

iPhone 16 Series Now Covered Under Customs Valuation

With the release of the iPhone 16 lineup, the Directorate has officially included these devices under the new ruling. Meanwhile, depreciation has been applied to older models that are approaching or have reached their End of Life (EOL) status.

The revision comes after a formal request by the Collectorate of Customs (Airport), Islamabad, along with multiple appeals from stakeholders. They urged the Directorate to revise outdated customs values and incorporate the newest iPhone models into the official assessment framework.

Old Ruling Outdated, Market Trends Considered

The previous valuation ruling was over a year old and no longer accurately reflected current international market prices. Many of the older iPhone models listed in that ruling had become obsolete and were due for re-evaluation and depreciation.

In response, the Directorate initiated a detailed review under Sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act, 1969, analyzing recent import data, current global pricing trends, and discrepancies between declared import values and actual market rates.

Stakeholder Engagement and Data Analysis

To ensure transparency, the Directorate held multiple meetings with relevant stakeholders. During these sessions, participants emphasized the need to update customs values for newer iPhone models and adjust the values for older ones accordingly.

Importers were asked to submit relevant documentation, and a comprehensive 90-day dataset was reviewed to support the final valuation. Some declared import values were referenced during the analysis.

New Customs Values Specified in Annexure-I

Following the assessment, the transaction values for all 187 iPhone models have now been finalized. The customs values listed in Annexure-I (spanning five pages, from Serial No. 01 to 187) will serve as the official basis for calculating import duties and taxes on Apple iPhones.
