Transporters increase fares by 5% after rise in petrol, diesel prices

Following hike in petroleum products’ prices, public transporters, too, have raised fares by five per cent, putting an additional burden on passengers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Now fares have increased between Rs60 and Rs460.

Following that, the fare charged for travelling between Lahore and Rawalpindi has gone up by Rs110 to reach Rs2,340.

Similarly, the fare from Lahore to Peshawar has gone up by Rs150 to reach Rs3,100; while the fares from Lahore to Sargodha and Lahore to Faisalabad have increased by Rs60 to reach Rs1,260.

Likewise, people travelling from Lahore to Karachi are now being charged Rs9,720 after an increase in the fare by Rs460.

Meanwhile, goods transporters and Mini Mazda Association too have increased the fares, which are likely to have an impact on the prices of food items.

On the other hand, passengers have said that at a time when they are already facing inflation, an increase in fares will simply rub salt into their wounds, while transporters have said that an increase is inevitable in the wake of rise in petroleum products prices.
