Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi vows to ensure security of trains, railway tracks

Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Monday said that the safety of passengers was a top priority for the government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking at a meeting held at the railway headquarters in Lahore with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi in the chair, he said that the security of railway tracks and trains would be ensured at all costs.  

He, on the occasion, praised the railways minister for taking steps for the betterment of Pakistan Railways (PR). 

Speaking at the meeting, Abbasi thanked Naqvi for the Federal Reserve Police’s assistance in the removal of encroachments. 

On the occasion, the participants of the meeting were briefed about the situation with respect to the security of railway tracks and trains in the country, especially in Balochistan.

Steps to further strengthen the security also came under discussion at the meeting. 

It was decided that a joint operation would be launched against encroachments on the PR land by the National Constabulary and the Railway Police, while the FC would provide assistance to the two forces. 

It was also decided at the meeting to operate a train between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. 

CEO Pakistan Railways Amir Ali Baloch, IG Railway Police Rai Tahir and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
