Man arrested after allegedly shooting younger brother dead in Lahore

Police have arrested a man accused of shooting dead his 30-year-old younger brother during a family dispute in the Kotli Pir Abdul Rehman area of Harbanspura, a Cantt Division police spokesperson said on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred during a dispute involving the brothers and their mother. The victim, identified as Tariq, died after allegedly being shot by his elder brother, Azhar.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect following the incident.

Harbanspura police subsequently arrested Azhar and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the shooting.

Police and forensic teams collected evidence from the scene, while Tariq's body was shifted to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.

SHO Harbanspura said legal action would be taken against those involved in the incident upon receipt of a formal complaint.

SP Cantt Atif Amir said further proceedings were underway in accordance with the law.
