Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff in trouble for doing 'misleading ad'
A formal complaint has been filed against Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff for endorsing a popular ‘elaichi’ brand.
Indian media reports state that the complaint alleges misleading advertisements, leading to legal action against the actors in Kota city, India. The controversy stems from the actors’ association with the pan masala brand and its controversial slogan, ‘bolo zubaan kesari.’
The complaint, filed with the Kota Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, was submitted by Inder Mohan Singh Hani. He claims the advertisement promotes false information, particularly targeting young consumers.
The complainant argues that Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff, as influential figures, are misleading their fans, especially youth, by endorsing a product that falsely claims to contain saffron. The petition also points out that the company has failed to provide any evidence supporting its claims.
Furthermore, the packaging’s warning label is allegedly printed in such tiny text that it is nearly unreadable, raising concerns about transparency.
The petitioner is calling for an immediate ban on the advertisement and a penalty against both the actors and the company.
Following the complaint, the Kota Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission issued notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, and the manufacturer of Vimal Pan Masala, directing them to appear in court.
As of now, neither the actors nor the brand has made an official statement regarding the issue.
Earlier, Akshay Kumar had also been part of the advertisement but decided to withdraw from the campaign after receiving significant backlash.
