The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has convened a meeting of its Scrutiny Committee on to look into the issue of PTI's foreign party funding January 26, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The parties, Akber S Baber and PTI, have been directed to appear before the scrutiny committee at 11 am.
Sources said that the scrutiny committee will review petitioner Akbar S. Babar's objections on the documents submitted by the PTI.
The Election Commission had ordered the scrutiny committee to continue its investigation.
The ECP on Thursday said that its scrutiny committee enjoyed the power and status of a joint investigation team (JIT) and could not hold an open hearing in the foreign funding case it was seized with.
“The committee will face difficulties in proceeding with the case if it happens,” the ECP said in a statement released.
Reportedly, the statement came a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan proposed public hearing in the foreign funding case and said it should be aired live.
“Foreign funding case proceedings should be aired live on TV so that everything is known to the general public,” the prime minister said while talking to media person in North Waziristan.
