LHC grants post-arrest bail to human trafficking accused
The Lahore High Court has granted bail to an accused involved in human trafficking, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Justice Muhammad Amjad Rafique issued a decision granting post-arrest bail to accused Muhammad Tahir.
The court ordered to release the accused on bail in exchange for bonds of Rs500,000.
The court wrote in the decision that just transferring money to a bank account is not enough to prove a crime.
It is the responsibility of the investigating agency to present solid and acceptable evidence against the accused.
No one can be declared guilty on the basis of mere suspicion or assumption.
The investigation could not prove the accused's connection with an organized human trafficking gang.
There is a need for effective legislation and special rules of evidence in human trafficking cases.
International cooperation is indispensable for effective investigations against international human trafficking.
