Two killed, several injured in blast on dam site in Bajaur

At least two civilians were killed and several others injured in an explosion on a dam construction site in the Salarzai area of Tehsil Bajaur on Saturday, according to police.

Following the blast, heavy contingents of police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched relief operations. The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Khar, local sources said.

Bajaur District Police Officer (DPO) Khalid Khan confirmed that two civilians were killed in the explosion, while several others sustained injuries.

According to the DPO, preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED).

"We are collecting evidence from the scene to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible," DPO Khalid Khan said.

Police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the perpetrators.

Authorities said further investigations are underway, and additional details will be shared as they become available.
