Turkish broadcaster, TRT [Turkish Radio and Television Corporation] has launched a special YouTube channel titled “TRT” for its Pakistani viewers containing Urdu subtitles.
Ever since the Turkish epic series Ertugrul started airing on PTV, Pakistanis have gone crazy over the show.
From avidly following the exploits of Ertugrul on TV to stalking the actors and actresses playing the roles on social media, it is safe to say that Pakistanis are obsessed with the historic drama.
After the incredible success and overwhelming response, TRT made it convenient for Pakistani viewers to watch Turkish dramas by introducing Urdu subtitles on its new YouTube channel.
Currently, two Turkish dramas “Elimi Bırakma” and “Payitaht: Abdülhamid” are uploaded on the channel.
The channel was introduced a week ago and is already successful in Pakistan with 20,900 subscribers and 1.5 million views on the first episode of Payitaht: Abdülhamid.
Earlier, Residents of Lahore erected statues to commemorate a medieval Turkish leader, a sign of the growing popularity, and cultural impact, of a television series imported from Turkey depicting the origins of the Ottoman Empire.
