Trump calls Field Marshal Asim Munir an ‘Inspiring Personality’ at NATO Summit

In a striking address at the NATO summit, U.S. President Donald Trump Wednesday again claimed that American intervention helped avert war between nuclear rivals Pakistan and India, while praising Pakistan’s top military leader Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as “an inspiring personality.”

“I met with Pakistani Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir — a truly remarkable figure,” Trump told world leaders. “We told both Pakistan and India to pursue trade, not tension. And we stopped a war before it started.”

Trump’s comments referenced backdoor diplomacy and strategic conversations believed to have been held during heightened cross-border tensions between the South Asian neighbors.

Shifting focus to global security issues, Trump declared that “our best generals eliminated ISIS,” reiterating his administration’s tough military stance. He added, “We’ve taken steps to protect the American people — and the world.”

Addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Trump stated, “Our goal was to eliminate Iran’s nuclear capability, and we succeeded.” He further revealed that talks with Iran are scheduled for next week and hinted that an agreement might even be signed.

Turning to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Trump commended Kyiv’s resilience: “Ukraine is fighting the best fight. President Zelensky did not mention a ceasefire — they’re not backing down.”
