Three arrested in Budh Bair gang rape case, jirga members also detained

Peshawar police have arrested three suspects in an alleged gang rape case reported in the Budh Bair area, while several members of a local jirga have also been taken into custody as new details emerged during the investigation.

According to police officials, the incident took place about a month ago but was not immediately reported to law enforcement authorities.

Instead, the matter was allegedly referred to a local jirga, where an informal settlement was reached between the parties.

Investigators revealed that the jirga reportedly decided that one of the accused would marry the girl, while financial compensation would be paid to her father.

However, the agreement later fell apart after a dispute arose over the payment.

Police said the girl's father eventually approached the concerned police station after disagreements emerged regarding the financial settlement.

Following his complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered, and the three suspects allegedly involved in the case were arrested.

During the course of the investigation, police also found evidence suggesting that there had been prior contact between the suspects and the girl before the alleged incident.

However, officials emphasized that the findings do not conclude the investigation and that all aspects of the case are still being thoroughly examined.
