Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said that her party representative Azam Nazir Tarar will be the leader of the opposition in Senate.
Addressing a press release in Lahore on Thursday evening, Maryam said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had become an institution for political engineering and the PML-N showed its true face to the nation. Referring to her pre-arrest bail, she said she wouldn’t be an easy target for the NAB. She said the NAB had done whatever it could do against the PML-N leadership and now the difficult time was over. She said that injustice could not stay forever; it would have to come to an end at some point. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was the real face behind the NAB. She said the PML-N was not afraid of NAB or Imran Khan.
Maryam said the PML-N leadership had always followed the law. She said the people understood the game that was being played at the political front. Referring to the third wave of coronavirus pandemic in the country, Maryam said, “Catch Prime Minister Imran Khan if you want to catch coronavirus.” She said the Prime Minister’s House too should be locked after Imran khan tested positive for coronavirus a few days ago.
In a related development, NAB explained the reason for adjournment of Maryam Nawaz's hearing on March 26. A spokesperson for the NAB said the decision was taken keeping in view the third wave of coronavirus pandemic and instructions of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). The spokesperson said the decision was taken in public interest and the next date of hearing would be set soon. The spokesperson said the city administration had been directed to undo the security arrangements for Maryam’s NAB appearance as soon as possible.
