PM Shehbaz and Bilawal consult on Pakistan’s role in regional peace efforts

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources told the 24News TV channel that the country’s overall situation, Pakistan’s role of a mediator in the Gulf and other regional matters came under discussion at the meeting.

Sources informed that PM Shehbaz took Bilawal into confidence on diplomatic efforts being made by Pakistan to bring about détente between the US, Israel on one hand and Iran on the other.

Federal ministers, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti were also present on the occasion.

The meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and the prime minister is also expected.

It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Islamabad was prepared to host negotiations to stop the US-Israeli war with Iran after mounting speculation it could act as a mediator.

"Pakistan welcomes and fully supports ongoing efforts to pursue dialogue to end the WAR in Middle East, in the interest of peace and stability in (the) region and beyond," he wrote on X.

"Subject to concurrence by the US and Iran, Pakistan stands ready and honoured to be the host to facilitate meaningful and conclusive talks for a comprehensive settlement of the ongoing conflict."
