Pakistan allows mobile phones manufacturing to 19 foreign, national companies

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Tuesday allowed 19 foreign and national based companies to manufacture mobile phones locally.

According to 24NewsHD TV Channel, the PTA had permitted manufacturing the mobile phones to the foreign and national companies for the next 10 years.

The PTA Spokesperson said the companies would manufacture 2-G, 3-G, and 4-G cellular sets at the local level and they could also launch their own brands for sale inside Pakistan and globally.

He said the manufacturers of cellular phones with their own brand would promote a “Made in Pakistan” culture that could also enhance Pakistani exports and economic ties with other countries.

The spokesperson also said that after starting manufacturing of mobile phones in the country, new jobs for Pakistanis would create and they could able to buy mobiles at low prices.

As per media reports, some mobile phone companies including Vivo, Infinix, Airlink, and Advance Telecom would soon establish their manufacturing units in Faisalabad, Lahore, and Karachi after getting permission of manufacturing now.
